- Monday, August 18: Program start day - Students pick up student ID, laptop and parking pass and receive a general introduction to the program.
- Tuesday, August 19 to Thursday, August 21: TRIBES Training - Held at 11 Simcoe Street North, this hands-on training is highly recommended as you are exposed to a wide range of learning strategies which you can use during your placements. Registration will open in late June. Read the TRIBES Training information document to learn more.
- Friday, August 22: Field Experience Day - You will find out the location of your first field experience and meet your faculty advisor.
- Monday, August 25: Semester 1 classes begin as per individual student schedules available in MyCampus.
Tuberculosis (TB) testing requirements for new teacher candidates - Read the TB Testing Information Sheet to learn more.
Police checks for new teacher candidates - Teacher candidates are required to complete a vulnerable sector check in order to be eligible to go out on placement. A copy of the completed check should be submitted to the Faculty of Education Practicum Office by Monday, August 18. (Specific instructions for obtaining police checks have been emailed to all new teacher candidates. If you did not receive this information or if you have any questions, please contact the Practicum office at firstname.lastname@example.org.)
Field Experience Handbook - The handbook contains guidelines, expectations, policies and other important details about placements. Teacher Candidates are expected to review the handbook and be familiar with its contents. View the 2014-2015 handbook (PDF).
