Reference: UOIT Regulation 5.15.2.
Teacher candidates in the Faculty of Education should attend all scheduled and required classes and be punctual. All absences should be discussed with the respective professor.
Students in programs leading to professional certification must demonstrate behaviour appropriate to practice in those professions. In the case of teacher preparation programs, the appropriate behaviour is outlined in the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession.
Teacher candidates will discuss each absence with the respective professor/advisor. Where, in the opinion of the instructor, absence from class puts a student in violation of UOIT Regulation 5.15.2; and/or indicates that a student might not be sufficiently prepared for practicum, the professor/instructor should report such concerns to the director of the Bachelor of Education program.
We understand that extenuating circumstances arise. If this is the case, please notify the Practicum Co-ordinator as well as your Associate teacher when you are going to be late or are unable to attend during field experience.
