Digital Tools for Educators
In the Digital Tools for Educators certificate course, participants learn the various benefits and considerations of a variety of digital tools that can be used in the classroom and other non-traditional learning environments (business, outdoor education). They learn how to use the tools in general and are shown and asked to co-develop ideas on how the tools could be used in their subject/place-specific learning environments. The sessions are positioned in a multi-literacies, Critical Digital Literacies and production pedagogies framework, so that participants understand the pedagogy and best practices associated with the tools.
The course consists of four, three-hour sessions. Each session will be broken up into introductory activities that include laying the pedagogical theory ground work and becoming familiar with the week’s curated digital tools, which will be selected based on weekly themes. The weekly themes include: Tools to Support Multi-literacies; Information Curation Tools; Online Learning & Collaboration Tools and Social Media Tools for the Classroom. The course can accommodate 20 participants per session.
