Virtual Classrooms

Here's how our virtual classrooms work:

Our program is 100 per cent online and uses virtual classrooms. With a high-speed Internet connection, a webcam, and a headset with a microphone, you can communicate and interact with instructors and students from around the world from the comfort of your own home! This is what we like to call face-to-face online learning. Welcome to the future of online learning.

OUR CLASSES

Our classes are specifically designed for working professionals, although we do have many students who opt to study full-time as well. Each class meets one evening per week in the virtual classroom, usually from 6 to 9 p.m. (summer courses meet two evenings per week). This allows many of our students to pursue their graduate studies while working full time. Imagine learning a concept in class and being able to put it into practice the next day!

Using leading-edge technology and resources, our classes are highly interactive. They feature group discussions, both large and small, through the use of ‘breakout rooms’ as seen in the above video. This allows for a dynamic form of collaboration not often found in online learning.

Our students come with professions in education, the corporate world, legal practice, human resources, the public sector, non-profits, and law enforcement; and some come straight from their undergraduate studies. They attend class from within the Greater Toronto Area, from different parts of Canada, and from all over the world, offering a diversity of perspectives that enhances learning in a unique way.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

With minimal equipment, you can join our interactive online classes. Here is what you will need:

  • A computer that is relatively new (within the last two to three years).
  • A webcam.
  • A good-quality headset with a microphone (you cannot use your computer’s speakers because they will create an echo for everyone else in the class). Our students have found that the brands Jabra, Plantronics and Logitech work well.
  • An Internet connection with a minimum download speed of 8 Mbps, and a minimum upload speed of 1 Mbps; check your speed at speedtest.net.
  • You may wish to use a large computer screen (21-inch or larger). This is not required, but can be helpful when bringing up multiple windows in class.
