FACULTY OF EDUCATION

International: Required Documentation

For Applications to the 2011-2012 Academic year

Required documentation for P/J and I/S applicants submitting academic documents from countries outside Canada or the USA:

We require all applicants with international documentation (transcripts from outside Canada or the United States) to have their documents assessed through World Education Services (WES).  Applicants must request the 'WES ICAP - Course by Course Evaluation'.  Through this evaluation, the applicant need only send original documentation (transcripts, degree parchment copies, etc) to WES, who will authenticate the documents, evaluate credentials and send copies to each university the applicant has applied to along with the course-by-course assessment.  It is the applicants' responsibility to arrange to have the final WES assessment report sent directly to UOIT from WES once it has been completed.

All applicants who have been educated outside of Canada or the United States are required to submit official documentation to WES and have this educational assessment performed and forwarded to UOIT.  This documentation includes:

1. Names of all courses studied and grades awarded.
2. Course hours or credit units or total marks indicated on official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution.
3. Undergraduate degrees and any graduate degrees awarded.
4. Statement confirming graduation.
5. If your official academic documents do not include an official English translation, then you must submit an official translation to the document assessment company. The translator must be accredited by a professional association of translators in Canada. To obtain the name of an accredited translator, please refer to this website: http://www.atio.on.ca.

All documentation must be original, sent directly from the issuing institution to WES in an original, sealed envelope.  Once the evaluation is completed by WES, it must be forwarded to UOIT directly from WES.  Photocopies and notarized copies will not be accepted.  Assessments from WES must arrive at UOIT no later than Friday December 1, 2011 by 4:30 p.m.

WES Document Assessment

All applicants are responsible for having an 'ICAP - Course by Course Evaluation' performed through World Education Services.
WES will authenticate all official documents and will evaluate credentials based on those transcripts.  All applicants with international transcripts are responsible for contacting WES themselves and requesting required documentation (transcripts, etc) to be sent to WES from their specific educational institutions.

Please note that UOIT will not forward copies of your transcripts to WES, copies must be sent directly to WES. If you have any questions about document submission to WES, please contact them using the form found on the WES information request page

Once the assessment has been completed by WES, you must arrange to have the official assessment sent to:

UOIT Registrar's office
2000 Simcoe Street North
Oshawa, Ont.  L1H 7K4
Canada

The official WES credential assessment and document authentication must be received directly from WES electronically or in a sealed-envelope.  Faxes are not accepted.  Assessments submitted by applicants will not be accepted.
Assessments from WES must arrive at UOIT no later than Friday December 1, 2011 by 4:30 p.m. or your file will be deemed incomplete.   Please take into account the processing time for the WES to complete your evaluation once they receive your official documentation.  Be sure to inquire about processing times when you contact WES in order to plan your original document requests/document submissions accordingly.
