Hi, campers and families! This will be my fourth year as a camp counsellor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology summer camps. I just finished my teacher education program here at the university and hope to be teaching you math, physics and other fun stuff in the future! Talk to me about comic books, cars, video games, space, or anything nerdy! I hope we can all learn a lot this summer, and have a bunch of fun!

Hello, campers and families! My name is Laura and this will be my first summer as a University of Ontario Institute of Technology camp counsellor. I am currentlly a Primary/Junior teacher candidate in the university's Bachelor of Education program, which has introduced me to so many amazing forms of technology! I can't wait to combine these great tech tools with my passion for hands-on learning, which comes from my background as an ECE. I am looking forward to meeting all of you at camp and I am excited for us to explore, create, and most importantly, have fun!

I am extremely excited to be returning this summer and I just know we're going to have tons of fun! In my elementary school years, I had the opportunity to work and compete in the First LEGO League competitions, so it will be exciting to work with this technology again! I can't wait to meet each and every single one of you!

Hi, campers of all ages! My name is Brittany and this is my first time joining this wonderful camp! I am currently halfway through my Bachelor of Education here at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Since beginning my studies here, I have found a passion for all things STEAM, especially LEGO robotics and the arts! I love playing sports, reading, doing, or better yet, 'making' art, being out in nature and laughing. I'll see you all soon!

I have been a counsellor for eight years now, and have watched many of you returning campers grow in your knowledge and passion for science and nature! I am a graduate of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology's Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) program and have my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts. Hello, campers! My name is Liz and I am beyond excited to be returning as a camp counsellor this summer! I absolutely love the energy at camp and can't wait to get right back into things. As an educator, I have been fortunate to play and teach with lots of cool technology (spoiler alert: it's all awesome). In my spare time you'll find me cooking up a storm, enjoying the outdoors, or telling a joke or two (or three if I'm completely honest). Hey there, campers! My name is Lucien Henderson and I completed my Kinesiology degree at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in 2014. I am also a current teacher candidate in the Intermediate/Senior stream in Physical Education and Biology at the university. Although I worked at the YMCA as a camp counsellor for three years, this will be my first year working at the university's summer camp. I love being active, learning new things, being outdoors and making new friends! I'm looking forward to crossing all four of these things off my summer bucket list with you! I love technology and gaming, and support game-based learning for learners of every age. I participated in the LEGO Mindstorms summer camp at the university around 10 years ago, and can say from experience that it was excellent. I look forward to working with the campers this summer!

For the last two years I have been teaching high school math and coaching lacrosse at Everest Academy. Each year I love seeing all the new robots that the campers create as well as the creative coding designs that they come up with. As a Master of Education student and Occasional Teacher with several local school boards, I have been living in Durham Region studying communications, technology and education my whole life! I love the arts, music and everything science related! I have worked at EB Games and Blockbuster where I developed a huge passion for movies and video games! I have also worked at General Motors and assisted with building thousands of vehicles, painting, chassis construction and body shop metal work! This campus has been my home for the past five years and it is such an amazing community where everyone can feel included. I am an Associate Teaching Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology where I have taught a variety of courses including Science and Technology, Health and Physical Education and Environmental Education. I am on the executive of the Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario and am actively involved in many environmental organizations. I have been the university's Summer Camp Director for 11 years (since the camps started!)

Hi, campers and parents! First of all, I’d like to say that I am so excited to be working at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology's LEGO and coding camps this summer. This will be my first year at this camp, but I’ve heard so much about it and can’t wait to dive in. I’m currently a Grade 5/6 French Immersion teacher and a recent graduate of this university. I have also worked for the university's Mobile Maker and STEM Minds programs, teaching coding and robotics. Aside from playing with robots, I play guitar and sing in a reggae band. l love cooking, softball and skiing. This is going to be a great summer—let the good times roll!

My name is Chris and I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, with the goal of becoming a high school science teacher. My favourite subjects are biology, cchemistry and math! My hobbies and interests include playing basketball, baseball and tennis, solving puzzles and riddles, and watching movies and Netflix series. While this is my first summer camp at the university, I have experience with STEAM camp games and activities, namely, LEGO robotics and coding. I believe that STEAM-based learning provides an immersive and interactive educational experience, and is the future of education.
